OUR UNITY IN CHRIST
“If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.” 1 Corinthians 12:17-18 NIV
One of the fundamental principles that characterize true followers of Jesus Christ is unity.
In our theme scripture, Paul elaborates this kind of mentality we are to have by using a very obvious example. If the blood cells supposed to combat disease begun to work against you, how would you survive?
The Gospel of Jesus is already offensive enough for us to add carnal offenses to it. Peter re-echoes Isaiah’s prophecy saying Christ is the rock of offense to those who stumble on the word (1Peter 2:8). Child of God, the counsel of the spirit is not to be taken lightly, we are to be one as Christ is one with the Father that our lives may testify of whom we have believed.
Praise the Lord!
Prayer: Father I thank you for this wisdom. I know how to carry my self with diligence towards my brothers and sisters that we may not bring reproach to the gospel. Help us see beyond our differences but instead remain anchored in what unites as one body, in Jesus name. Amen!
