PRESSING FORWARD
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14 NIV
Some people struggle to forgive themselves from their past mistakes, even if they have accepted Christ as lord and savior.
Truth is what is past is gone, and failure to release that which the Lord himself has forgiven is a form of pride. This is whether it concerns you or others you may deem unfit to receive this grace. In the Gospel of John 8:16, the scriptures are clear “who the son sets free, is free indeed”. The only thing that can hinder this freedom is a failure to receive it.
Likewise if this is true of you, carry also the same mind toward others regardless of how sinful you have known them, how messy you know theirs and your own past to have been. It is in this way that we can be able to walk into what God has spoken about our lives without fault, because in retrospect His mercy and grace are unmerited and that is the only reason to boast!
Praise the Lord.
Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. I have received my freedom and consciously tame my spirit with your word of truth whenever the enemy attempts to accuse or condemn me. I press on forward to win my prize through Christ my Lord, Amen!
