THE DOUBLE EDGED SWORD
“Can a corrupt throne be allied with you— a throne that brings on misery by its decrees?” Psalms 94:20 NIV
Anything that has potential to be good also has potential to become bad if misused.
For example, if one does not have to moderately enjoy leisure, they become enslaved to the distractions and destructions that come from it. Having a good time is not a sin, but when you abuse it or have it in ways that dishonor God and others then it is dangerous. The word of God is no different.
It is life, it is powerful, it gives guidance and counsel but if misinterpreted can lead a person to their ultimate ruin because misinterpretation doesn’t remove its power to convict. The same way we claim and hope for every promise spoken in scripture, in truth and in spirit is the same way one can misinterpret the very same promises and do evil. Child of God, this is why it is so important for you to be a student of the word, prayerfully ans consistently.
It is good to hear great sermons, and read good books but no one can know God for you better than you.
Let this be as true for you as truth can get. Praise the Lord!
Prayer: Father I thank you for this truth. As Job once said, I have esteemed your word more than necessary food and I delight in knowing your unsearchable character as you chose to reveal it. I yield my heart to your spirit which alone reveals your heart to us, in Jesus name. Amen!
