PROGRESSIVE SANCTIFICATION

“When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.” 1 Corinthians 13:11 NIV

There is a saying in the body of Christ that goes “come as you are” which often insinuates that whatever you may be burdened with or struggling with is not big enough for God not to handle.

This statement is essentially true, but incomplete. The full statement should include that “you should not stay as you are/ came”. In our theme scripture, Paul describes this growth process using an analogy of how a child one day must grow into man/womanhood. When a child physically and mentally has challenges developing we consider this a critical condition, the same is true if one remains in the same condition spiritually.

Child of God, salvation is the primary thing, but spiritual growth requires both your involvement, diligence and willingness. I exhort you to never become complacent concerning the way of faith, and your path will continue to shine brighter and brighter as He promises! Hallelujah.

Prayer: Father I thank you for this wisdom. I am disciplined concerning my salvation and work it out with fear and trembling. I am quick to discern conviction and swiftly act upon it. I find delight in doing your will and seeking your face diligently. I have Christ as my reward, now and forevermore, to the glory of your name, Amen!
