RAISING GODLY SEEDS

”Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.“ Psalms 127:3 NLT

Our theme scripture describes children as a gift. A gift is something you receive independent of your doing. It is something that another is thoughtful about and that one tailors according to what they know to be your preferences.

With this in mind, those among you that are parents or desire to be should always look at your children as a gift from God. You should never think of them as people that belong to you, but rather gifts to steward, and for which you will give an account for (Matthew 18:6).

In Ephesians 6:4, the scriptures encourage parents not to frustrate their children or provoke them to anger but to raise them up with discipline and in the ways they should go. If you are only stewarding something that doesn’t belong to you, my guess is that you do so with the utmost care and with the heart of the one that gave the gift in mind.

Child of God, your way of parenting should always reflect fear for God. He says he knows these children before they are even formed in your womb (Jeremiah 1:5), and He has plans to prosper them and give them a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Wouldn’t it then be safe to say consulting Him concerning those original plans is the way to steward the very gift he gave? Praise God!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this wisdom. My children are for signs and for wonders because I raise them according to the pattern you have showed me. Give me guidance concerning their future, that I may not frustrate what you have deposited in them. Because I know your heart concerning them, everything they do will bring forth and prosper, they will run where I walked and they will be twice as much in wisdom and stature than I ever could be in Jesus name. Amen!
