THE COST OF FOLLOWING
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” I Thessalonians 5:23 NKJV
To be sanctified is to extensively cultivate our godly concerns. Oswald Chambers described it as securing and keeping all strength of our body, spirit and soul for God’s purposes alone.
It also means to be set apart by the nature that is at work in us. To be sanctified, child of God is to be made one with Jesus that the nature that controlled Him becomes the nature that controls us. The cost of this is no simple cost: it costs everything. Are we prepared to be caught up in the exact meaning of Paul’s words? Are we willing to be in the likeness of Jesus so much so that we are thought of as family to Him?
This is the end goal of sanctification. Not only does it cost everything, it is worth everything. Praise God !
Prayer: Father I thank you for this word. Set me free from everything that is not like or of you, by the power of your holy spirit. My chief desire in this life is to reflect the things which point to my master and this to whichever cost, in Jesus mighty name. Amen!
