THE LORD’S FAITHFULNESS

“But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task, until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I discerned their end. Truly you set them in slippery places; you make them fall to ruin.” Psalm 73:16-18 ESV

It’s often hard to reconcile the prosperity of the wicked while the righteous face hardship.

Asaph expresses this struggle in Psalm 73, but his perspective changes when he enters God’s presence. Ecclesiastes 7:8 reminds us that “the end of a thing is better than its beginning,” and Asaph realizes this truth: the consequences of sin may not come immediately, but when they do, they are swift and inevitable.

This psalm reassures us that, though God’s justice may seem delayed, it is always certain. In His perfect timing, He will right the wrongs of the world and reward each according to their works.  Stay faithful—His justice will prevail, and His timing is always perfect. Praise Him!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for this blessed assurance. I know that your patience is an opportunity for men to repent and my prayer is that those who humble themselves will receive your mercy. I trust in your unfailing and timely justice for all that concerns me, in Jesus name. Amen!
