THE POWER OF BEING YIELDED

“Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?” Romans 6:16 NIV

The principle of agreement is a spiritual law, unbreakable except by God’s power and understanding.

In Romans 6:16, Paul highlights that “you are slaves of the one you obey.” For example, a child who manipulates parents through tantrums is cultivating selfishness. As they grow, that same selfishness will control other areas of their life. This applies to all vices, like workaholism, lust, or addiction.

Oswald Chambers once said, “There is no power within the human soul itself that can break the bondage created by yielding.” Whatever we yield to, we become its slave, and every decision reflects that allegiance. When we yield to God, it becomes a natural part of our life, like breathing—no constant reminders needed.

Let your life be a continuous reflection of God in everything you do. The rest will follow, for you are yielded to the master of righteousness. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father, I thank you for this truth. I am yielded to your spirit that teaches, trains, tames, and leads me into all truth. I have a perpetual inclination to think and meditate on your word in all my dealings for I know I am being transformed from within and bearing fruit without, to the glory of your name. Amen!
