THE POWER OF RESTORATION
“Now instead, you ought to forgive and comfort him, so that he will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. I urge you, therefore, to reaffirm your love for him.” 2 Corinthians 2:7-8 NIV
When someone has been convicted of a wrong, the weight of conviction itself is already heavy on their soul.
It is not our place to add to that burden. Many of us have struggled to extend grace to a believer who has sinned, even when they are truly repentant. Instead, we sometimes hold against them something that God has already forgiven. Paul addresses this issue because, through divine inspiration and personal experience, he understands how misguided zeal can cause more harm than good.
If Christ forgave us with reluctance, none of us would stand. But since we are His children, we are called to forgive in the same way He forgives us. May the grace of God abound in and through us, so that our interactions reflect the healing we have received from Him. Hallelujah!
Prayer: Father, I thank You for this wisdom. I repent for the times I withheld forgiveness, forgetting how much You forgive me daily. Let Your grace flow through me by the power of Your Holy Spirit, that I may carry the aroma of Christ. In Your name, Amen!
