THE SECRET TO SUPERNATURAL INCREASE

“But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him.” Daniel 5:20 NKJV

Pride is one of the quickest roads to destruction. It blinds the heart so much that one is at more risk of destruction than a man born blind of sight.

In our theme scripture, a story is given of a king who was successful during his rule. Cities were built, his fame went across the nations, he was respected and blessed in all manner of possessions, and he looked upon all this and said to himself ‘I have accomplished all this with my hands’.

This pride led to a severe chastisement (Daniel 4), from which he was only released when he realized that every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord and not the works of men (James 1:17).

Pride keeps you from receiving because you cannot acknowledge that the help of God does indeed come through His people. Pride hardens your heart towards the safety that is made available through counsel. Pride withholds growth from you in the very thing you think to have mastery over. Pride causes one to brag ‘humbly’ not realizing it is revealing of the depth of ignorance dwelling amongst its beholders.

Child of God, we are called to such great heights in God that only meekness/ humility can enable us to soar high. As we learnt yesterday concerning waiting being a strategy for speed, humility is the strategy for increase.

This is not to be mistaken for mere temperance, but a true servant posture of the heart that always positions you to learn, to receive, to hone what you already know, and finally leads you to discover what you too carry for your generation.

God made no mistake in weaving these results in this pattern. As a wise man once said ‘you are as strong as you are humble’. Let it not be said of you that pride hindered you from increase. Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father I thank you for this word. As the psalmist says, my heart is not haughty nor my spirit lofty. I go through life wanting to be taught for everything you have created ministers an attribute of who you are. This process does not end because you remain from age to age. I have ruled my spirit to receive from your wisdom however you choose to come, for increase is my inheritance through Christ Jesus. Amen!
