THE WORD WE STAND ON
“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” Romans 15:4 NIV
If you are a keen student of the word, you realize that every book, every chapter and every verse round up to three things: revealing the nature of God, inviting us into fellowship of His presence and strengthening us to reflect his glory in a world that constantly rejects it.
Paul wouldn’t have used a word as definitive as strengthening unless he really understood that it is not easy to be in the world while not of it, or to deny the impulses of the flesh. He that lives outside of time has given us his very promises and comfort through His word.
Hold on to hope and remember that whatever suffering you may encounter on this side of glory, is the only opportunity you get to worship him in pain for there will be no more of it in heaven (Revelation 21:4). Hallelujah!
Prayer: Father, thank you for this word. I reckon the words of the apostle that we rejoice in our suffering, clinging to the joy set ahead. Strengthen me in my inner man daily that I may walk worthy of your calling, in Jesus mighty name, Amen!
