TO BE SPIRITUAL
“For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2:2 NIV
To be spiritual simply means that nothing in your heart holds greater affection than Jesus Christ.
Naturally, we all cherish certain things—our families, parents, children, friends, hobbies, careers—you name it. While these are important, none should hold a higher position or greater value than Christ and His gift. This is what Paul emphasizes in this passage: true spirituality is found in understanding the Lord Jesus Christ and aligning your life with His purposes. That is the defining mark of a spiritual person.
Let this same mindset be in you—that you resolve to know nothing apart from Christ and His cross. Praise the Lord!
Prayer: Father, I thank you for this truth. It will be said of me that the overruling passion of my life is Christ. Help me live with a perpetual desire to do His will, in Jesus name. Amen!
