WISE JUDGEMENT
“So don’t judge anything prematurely, before the Lord comes, who will both bring to light what is hidden in darkness and reveal the intentions of the hearts. And then praise will come to each one from God.” 1 Corinthians 4:5 CSB
One of the most humbling experiences I have acquired by the grace of God and the help of the spirit is in this passage.
We are not designed to judge one another because we are complex creatures and are unable to know the intentions in the hearts or thoughts in another’s mind. God alone does and we ought to respect His wisdom in seeing to it that this information is hidden from us. In our passage Paul prohibits us from judging anything prematurely because the end of a thing is better than its beginning (Ecclesiastes 7:8). Premature is indefinite in this statement because what is true of you at 25 could be different from what is so at 45.
None of us knows the end of another, a person who seems fallen beyond redemption could be restored so unbelievably in the next month that you would have a hard time recognizing them. The opposite is also true, one who may seem in perfect standing could fall so down below that your head would spin. That is why child of God, we who believe should be slow to judge and instead quick to pray for one another.
When the redeemed of the Lord shall say so (Psalm 107:2), heaven will always remember that you joined in the cry and that shall be counted unto you for righteousness! Hallelujah.
Prayer: Father I thank you for this wisdom. I am slow to speak and slow to judge for I know the one who puts on the armor should not boast as the one that takes it off. May your light in me so shine before men that they may see it and glorify my father in heaven, in Jesus mighty name. Amen!
